Short object reading
Object note
This page stays close to the sheet itself: composition, historical setting, and the work's place in the archive.
Summer as suspended duration
The figure is less brisk than spring and more immersed in her surroundings. Water, foliage, and the softer tilt of the body give the panel a sense of duration rather than emergence.
Serial contrast
Within the set, summer matters because it loosens the pace. Mucha changes not only the palette but also the bodily tempo, making the series feel seasonal in affect as well as iconography.
Place in the archive
This panel helps show that the Seasons are not interchangeable decorations. Each sheet adjusts posture, density, and temperature to produce a distinct emotional register.
